Aftercare

HOW TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR SERVICE

Following the aftercare for your service is the best way to get the longevity and ensure no damage is caused to your natural nails.

MY TOP TIP:

You can never use too much cuticle oil!

CND Shellac

Shellac is pretty indestructible with normal wear and tear, however when doing jobs like household cleaning and gardening, hobbies that are rough on your hands or using harsh chemical products you should wear gloves. Doing these things without protection can mar your Shellac and reduce its longevity.

During your Shellac application the front edge of your nail was covered with each layer of Shellac. The ‘so called’ seal is expected to wear off the sharp free edge of the natural nail in a few days with normal wear and tear

  • Do NOT use any nail polish removers on the Shellac, Shellac is not acetone resistant like some Gel Polish Brands, this will cause the removal of the top coat leaving the manicure compromised.

  • If something has caused a chip or lifted an edge of your Shellac manicure, please do NOT pick or pull at the area, as this will cause any damage to increase.

  • It is recommended that you apply Cuticle oil twice a day as it will substantially prolong the life of your Shellac and keep your natural nails and the skin surrounding them healthy, moisturised and flexible. I retail a mini bottle at £3.00.

  • If you are on holiday please be careful when using sun tan oils or insect repellent solutions as many of these products contain solvent oils which will cause major damage to the Shellac.

  • Some of the more delicate Shellac colours can in chlorinated water followed by excessive sun (remember that chlorine is a bleach and sun intensifies the bleaching action). Wash and Dry your hands and nails after swimming and before sunbathing to minimize any colour fading.

Gel II™ is hard wearing but is not indestructible when performing our daily chores. Below are a few guidelines, but together we must work as a partnership and ensure the following so you can flash and flaunt perfect wear

  • Protect your skin and nails from harsh household chemicals such as bleach and washing up liquid from striping your skin and nails of its vital moisture. Discolouration may be possible. Rubber gloves is all you need to stay protected.

  • Be sure to apply Cuticle Oil twice daily to promote healthy skin and nails. Its daily use will prolong the life of your Gel II™ Manicure while maintaining high hydration levels in the nail plate thus preventing natural nail peeling and breakages.

  • Hobbies that are very hands on and require you to get ‘’down and dirty’’ such as gardening could well affect the longevity of your Gel II™ Manicure. Keep them protected with protective rubber gloves.

  • When applying sunscreen lotion or insect repellents be sure to wash your hands immediately after application as they are known to cause possible breakdown of Gel Polish. Note: Applying a small amount of Cuticle Oil to your nails to act as a barrier beforehand is good practice.

  • Chlorinated water followed by sun exposure may cause discolouration of your Gel II™ Manicure. Chlorine is a bleach and the sun intensifies the bleaching action. Be sure to dry your hands immediately to prevent this from happening.

  • If you happen to notice a slight chip or nick in your Gel II™ Manicure or nail DO NOT pick, peel or lift it as it will cause damage to your nails. Please contact me as soon as possible.
